Inspired by my trip to the cemetery yesterday for a cousins wake, heres my wish list for my own wake and funeral. 1. Closed casket. I dont want anyone to see and remember me as a corpse. Thats so unglam! I actually dont understand why anybody would want that. 2. No fowers. Sayang the money. Pool it together na lang and donate to charity (to be announced later). Or to my family to help cover the funeral expenses. Or both. If there must be flowers, I want yellow roses. Because yellow roses are ❤️. Nothing political here. 3. No tear-jerking songs. I want the tears to come organically. Ayoko ng jologs na walwalan noh. Dapat implosive acting ala Nora Aunor at Jaclyn Jose para sophis. So, no Hindi Kita Malilimutan, Sa Yo Lamang, Tanging Yaman and the like. For the funeral march, I want the Darth Vader theme from Star Wars para maiba. At nakakatawa. If songs must be played, Madonna! Specifically Ill Remember, This Used to be My Playground, Take a Bow, and Something to Remember. And Holiday. And Girl Gone Wild. Haha. 4. Celebration. I want my wake to be a calebration of me and my art. My art talaga?! Hehe. But seriously. I want my best photos to be on display, my best songs to be played, my best movies (maka-best akala mo marami na, eh iisa pa lang maman so far), my best writings to be read. Maybe devote 30-60mins a night throughout the wake for a program. This should include personal tributes from friends and family. Kung masyado marami ang gusto magsalita, and I expect it, make it a first come, first served basis and maybe have a cut-off. 5. Grand finale. When my casket has been buried I want light blue balloons to be released to the sky. Each should carry a note from anyone whod like to send a message for me to heaven. This assumes, of course, that Im going to heaven.
