Interesting analysis of the situation from a human rights perspective. Karen Stefiszyns article clearly explain that the Nigerian schoolgirl kidnappings is an act of gender based violence for which not only Boko Haram is responsible, but also the Nigerian government. The article looks at the Nigerian legal provisions that protect women and girls rights but highlights the armful traditional practices against them, such as female genital mutilation, child marriage, and ritualistic widowhood practices.
