Invitation to attend the South African PhD Project Regional Conference: Gauteng The South African PhD Project is an initiative of the NRF endorsed by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) that strives to increase the number of qualified South African research doctoral graduates. The long-term target is to increase the annual production of research doctoral graduates from the baseline of 1 200 in 2005 to 6 000 by 2025. The National Research Foundation will be hosting the South African PhD Conference focusing on Higher Education Institutions in Gauteng. The conference will be attended bymentors, representatives from funding agencies, higher education institutions offering doctoral training programmes, public and private research institutions and government departments. Potential and current PhD candidates are invited to apply to attend the conference. All conference attendance costs of successful applicants will be met by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the National Research Foundation (NRF).
