Irinkerindo Alatishe & the 7 must read books = If there is anyone - TopicsExpress

Irinkerindo Alatishe & the 7 must read books = If there is anyone to be blamed as providing the context for this post, it would be D.O. Fagunwa; that prodigious, inimitable and original author of such classic works as Irinkerindo ninu igbo elegbeje, Adiitu Olodumare, Igbo Olodumare, Ogboju Ode ninu igbo irunmole etc (at least for the many of us that have read and still reading those works). But then you cannot blame him too much. You should blame CBAC, Fagunwa Foundation, Fagunwa Study Group in conjunction with the Ondo State Government for organising the 50 years anniversary celebration of the life and time of D.O. Fagunwa. Just kidding. This was a worthy and well-deserved initiative and event in honour of someone who invested time in the promotion of the yoruba language, culture and heritage at a time when this was not financially rewarding. We need to continue to celebrate our best, our true heroes (and not those who masquerade as heroes) like these. I was privileged to attend and genuinely had fun at the event. Kudos to everyone involved and many more of this to come. During one of my trips outside Nigeria and the usual expedition to the city centre, I entered one bookstore where I encountered a book with the title that read like this "1000 spots you must see before you die". I also saw a similar title for films. "1000 films you must watch before you die". Whilst I leave you to imagine the cost outlay that visiting 1000 scattered exotic sites in my "lifetime" will entail, I would like to borrow the above title as archetype and recommend the following 7 books to you as must read whenever they come to the market, before you die. This is because the books will be filled with the personal experiences of the authors. As the adage goes, experience is the best teacher. And the authors have these experiences in abundance! These books, I promise, will not be cost prohibitive as the authors would want the greater number of people as possible to have copies. Also, these books were recommended by one of the Anchors at the D.O. Fagunwa anniversary event. "(1) How to speak good English by Dame Patience Jonathan (2)My Love for the US by Osama Bin Laden (3)How to Keep Your Marriage by Chris Okotie (4)The Secret of True Love by Tu Face Idibia (5) Beauty Secrets for men: How to Look Handsome by Olusegun Obasanjo (6) The Art of Corruption by James Ibori (7) Say No To Violence by Boko Haram" Grab your copies once they are out, you will not regret them!
