Is it really silly to try and end this strike? Has it gone on long enough ? Or is the real issue the longer the teachers sit the more money the finance minister can claim as a surplus ? What is wrong with binding arbitration? If the minister is asking the union to vote ? Should n t the government hold a vote? Let iker and the minister give their sides and let BC vote. After all are we not the tax payer? This is not about teachers ... it is about the dismantling of our social fabric? My friends and BC decide for a social network that was envisioned by people who cared about others and grew up through depressions and in an agricultural based society where they made a whole lot less then we do today .. these forefathers like tommy douglas preached social gospel because that was how they were raised .save some .. give some ... spend some ... they were raised on near nothing pay dependent on the market value of eggs beef... fruit ... vegetables ... grain... they never dreamed of a communist system ... only that each gives what they can and the government then would use that money not for raises ... but for services... roads ... schools... housing.... health care ... investment in Canadian corporations that were set up to succeed... laws that treated all equal ... support to Canadian based ... forefathers and mothers who looked after their babies... taught their children the value of hard work .. helping others ... not going into debt ... and families that worked .. played together... who prayed for better days ... and worked to erect grainaries ... barns ... The choice in a democracy is always ours ... the power is in the people... I support quality education.. I support paying a fair wage ... I support getting people back to work... remember in a democracy it is okay to disagree ... but I am pleading with anyone I know ... vote.. call your MLA ... write .... are you in support of social programs or do you wish Canada to go back to the 1930s conservative government... felt increased trade agreements... pro business.. pro banking policies had no relief.. government assistance at that time was seen as a desincentive so it was only granted in minimal amounts.. and attached to work programs.. free market was emphasized as the only way... then military style relief camps were set up to work the unemployed and paid a mere 20 cents a day ..strikes became prevelent..legislation was based because the government feared the masses to deal with potential threats to state .. that would not put a public dollar forward ... then in 1935 the PC party anounced federal intervention... and public spending ... income tax... minium wage ... EI ... Health insurance .canada pulled out of the depression when government funded jobs ... setting up of CBC ...and unfortunately ww 2 ... are we doomed to repeat hostory ... or do we need a better education system to teach us who we are.where we came from .. and that ultimately everyone in Canada is to be respected .. the choice is yours ... Who do you support ? ..
