It has come to my attention that I have inadvertently used - TopicsExpress

It has come to my attention that I have inadvertently used language that could make our trans sisters feel excluded from participating in Grrl Fest. Terms do change, or can carry stigma and it is best to keep yourself updated and conscious of your impact on your surroundings. I have not actually received any criticism of GF, but I want to acknowledge this in case anyone has been wary or confused of GFs intentions. Terms like female-identified and wom*n actually make reference to being biologically female which is a transphobic notion that Grrl Fest does not wish to perpetuate or support. After some discussion and learning I will now use women-identified to signify to the public that Grrl Fest is 100% dedicated to celebrating and supporting trans-women. GF is proudly and actively intersectional. Some may think this post too PC, but in the words of my wise Mother Every woman is different, you dont have to be PC to understand, just be personally sensitive and respectful. Lots of love, Grrl Fest
