It is June 1986 in the Land of Chessman/Africa America. It is a long summer night at the ancient Oba City where couples gather. It has been a long tradition here where the boyfriend would test his girlfriend heart to see if she is willing to get to in the river with him. This would be a test of trust, love, and truth. Melvin and Ellen known as Oba and Edo are learning the diverse African cultures and their ways of life here in the ancient Oba City. They are at the Donkor and Morowa region of this ancient city. They see their peers Donkor and his girlfriend Morowa doing their cultural Ghanian tradition; The Test of Love and Truth. Donkor and Morowa would meet each other halfway staring at each other from a great distance away. Morowa jumps in the river and swims very fast to meet her boyfriend Donkor. She swims so fast that she catches a cramp in her arms causing her face to merge in the water. She panics so bad that she cannot lift herself to the surface. Donkor rushes to her rescue and pulls her out of the surface of the river. She cries very heavily due to the fact she could have lost her life. Donkor grabs and hold her body tightly. Morowa calms down as she hears the heartbeat of her boyfriend heart and the sound of his voice echoes as he talks. He says, “Morowa, you are safe with me I was not going to let you drown. All I needed for you to do was to get in the river with me to show you trust and love me.” Morowa says, “You have proven that you are the alpha male and I trust that your authority will bring us good fortunate. I want to be your wife and you as my husband. I am willing to go to swim great lengths with you. I will be your alpha female.
