It is in these times we find out as a Nation just how far we have come. .or not. I must say I have personally seen a ton of improvement within the various communities, in which I was honored to work. I know the citizens of Charleston arent all sitting and holding hands around the camp fire, but over the years, I saw a change within our police force that strived to break down walls of the Us vs THEM mentality. I saw various community leaders like Rev Ealy sitting down with Chief Webster talking and implementing policies and putting plans into place which served as bridges on which information flowed both ways freely. Im not saying we dont have our problems here in this area, but I do know most are being addressed before they become a National issue. So folks, Im thankful to have established the community relationships which helped me become a better officer. Im thankful that we dont always agree, but can have discussions, precedings, and fair investigations to work it out. Im thankful that those whom we elect to serve are going to do their jobs. .or we replace them. Folks at the end of the day, Im proud to be a Charlestonian, West Virginian, who also attended Rand University. Together, we can accomplish so much more.
