It is now midnight on the East Coast. And today, my grandmother - TopicsExpress

It is now midnight on the East Coast. And today, my grandmother Nanny Rose Block, passed away 12 years ago at the age of 103.5. I had the privilege and honor of taking care of year for 11 years. She was the matriarch of the family and came over to the US in 1912 on a steamship. As my sister so aptly put: Without her, none of us would be here. She was made of special stock, and a lot of my friends got a chance to know her and love her. She made me the person I am today. While it is 12 years on, it feels like yesterday. And the beauty is that I dont feel sad. I am celebrating a life, not lamenting a death. Nanny Rose had what you call quiet strength. She was less than 5 tall, but you NEVER disappointed her. She gave you the look of disappointment, not anger. She was whip smart, even in her last days. Again, I am not sad at all! She may be gone, but sure as hell not forgotten.
