It is time for Town Council to act. Youre either in support of the constituents who thought well enough to vote you into office or the special interest who continue to pressure you into submission. The townspeople are hopeful that you took seriously your solemn obligation and can withstand and overcome the substandard perversion and rewriting of the Golden Rule; those who have the gold, make the rules. Council themselves seem to continue to kick the can down the road without any sense of resolve or certainty. It may be that theyre beginning to realize that the height issue on Coleman & Ben Sawyer Boulevard should be resolved by a referendum and voted on by the citizens. This issue is too complex for a Nine (9) member panel of Council to place the Town in an egregious position without hearing from the majority of voters. There has been enough adversity surrounding this issue and citizens are being placed in the middle of the controversy by some members of Council and special interest. Public trust is at an all time low, and the public servants are losing respect due to the lack of support theyre providing to their constituents and their robust support for the special interest groups. These special interest groups have yet to be ostracised by the citizens of MP, although there are many members who have stated their displeasure with the organizations and will be leaving, due to their participation. Also business owners who seek to participate can run the risk of negative impacts at their own peril. To refuse to put this on a local referendum is pandering to special interests and securing the public perception of weakness unworthy of public service. You are placing your citizens and business community in the middle of controversy that shouldnt exist.
