It may have taken 16 long weeks, but I can finally - and VERY proudly announce that my amazing and devoted team - the Deakin Ducks Soccer Club, have achieved their first win of 2014! A fantastic, 90-minute performance from all the lads today, got the result we were looking for; a 3-1 win away from home, over the boys from Corio bay. This win today means so much to me as a player, in a team that has put everything humanely possible into developing this team, a win that has been a long time coming. I cannot express how much respect and gratitude I have for all my team mates, who persisted through the rough times (majority of the season), and rocked up to training and matches week after week with a positive attitude, no matter what the result was from the previous weekend. It was this persistence that built the strongest team possible in us. Will from the Inbetweeners said that every defeat is a victory, if you learn something from it, this season we have had enough defeats to learn enough about the game, that were now practically geniuses at this football business. Finally, although the season to this point has been heartbreaking and disappointing, strictly in terms of results, I wouldn’t change a single moment of it. Playing alongside these lads has been sensational and one of the highlights of my year for sure. 2014 for the Deakin Ducks - It’s been emotional.
