It seems like I spent a lot of time late 2013 and into the early part of 2014 searching for that magical word that would define me for the upcoming year. Since I never could settle on just one word for 2014, I’m on picking just the right word for 2015. At this time last year, I was just finishing up the move of the century (or so it seemed). We bought our dream home – a 1924 Craftsman cottage/farm house on nearly 3 acres. It’s rural and in the country, yet minutes away from everything we need and just close enough to the freeway to be convenient. Best of all, we’re close to all of our family. One business storage unit already full, the blending of family also resulted in renting another smaller unit. Since our barn hasn’t been constructed yet, we needed yet another to house my ridiculous obsession with motel chairs as well as too-many-to-count wrought iron patio sets to be restored and sold. And then the ball dropped... After 17 years of owning my much-loved antique shop in the heart of Issaquah, the property sold in the spring of 2014. Despite having a great long-term relationship with the previous owner, new management insisted that I vacated the building within 30 days. Period. Even though it ended up being several months before the building was bulldozed and despite my pleas, they refused to grant additional time, that critical time necessary to find a new location and start fresh. A huge sale to liquidate as much as possible and then three extremely intense and long days of packing and hauling, movers completely filled a fourth storage unit on the 30th day. It’s time to stop. It’s time to step back and look at where I’ve been, where I am and where I want to be. I have a lot to consider. I love all aspects of my life, believe me, but I have to make some choices. For this reason, my word for 2015 is: REGROUP
