It was an honor to attend the Prime Ministers Australia Day reception at Parliament House yesterday and convey the warmest national day congratulations of the people of the United States to the people of Australia. Today, we had a Happy Australia Day Luncheon with all our local Aussie staff at the Embassy! Our people share a deep friendship, rooted in our shared values and an abiding sense of fairness - whether we call it a far go or fair play. Americans deeply respect the courage and bravery of Australians and are honored to work side by side with them to advance peace around the world. Finally, it is great that we are, simply put, Mates in every sense of the word. I am proud to lift a cold one to all of our Aussie friends and wish you a very happy Australia Day!
