It was very frustrating spending time this past week at work writing an extra memo to administrative/clerical types who "process travel paperwork," and never leave their desks in Boston, to further justify travel to community health organizations in Tisbury, Oak Bluffs, Edgartown, and Aquinnah. Had to explain that these towns ARE IN Massachusetts, and not out-of-state, as they had thought they were. Also had to provide further clarification that the 4 federal grants that fund my office require us to work with organizations in rural communities across the state and that means we must occasionally visit them, even if my staff and I live in central and western Mass. And yes we do have to take a boat to get there. Sorry they have not built a bridge yet.
