Its BIGGER than you think... I just completed an intense project planning and review meeting with my chief of staff, and heres what Ive discovered that might help you if you get stuck on projects. If youre a master at project management, you can ignore this message. But, as an entrepreneur, the nitty gritty stuff is what Ive struggled with the most. Ive found that most projects have way more moving parts than we realize. They have little traps I like to call them -- hidden in between all the easy stuff -- traps that require decisions, gathering information, action by other people, etc. If you dont identify every little piece of your project, these traps can stall your project and delay completion, causing missed deadlines, frustration, and even loss of clients. So, the further you push out the pieces of your projects to their most distant points... until you cant split them off any more... the more likely you are to catch these traps before they become a problem. Im great at getting the vision set, communicating it, getting people involved and on board, even setting the major milestones, and some of the tasks attached to those milestones. But, for a long time Ive struggled with the ity-bity details. Not any more. Two things are helping with that. 1) Ive been LEVELING UP big time in my knowledge of how to execute like a mad man -- not so much in the DOING, but in the knowing of the process, and more important how to work with other people to execute projects. 2) Ive hired some REALLY smart people to work with me in the area of management and execution -- one of those is my new Chief of Staff who is a Six Sigma Black Belt, certified project manager, and all around execution ninja. We all have our strengths, and we all have our weaknesses. Ive discovered that its a whole lot easier to focus on and leverage your strengths, while managing around your weaknesses. Every day I attempt to LEVEL UP in my knowledge ... I read, watch, and listen to an obscene amount of information related to business and personal development. Plus, I exercise my muscles in those areas where Im trying to improve -- leading other people, executing through other people, being laser focused in business, and having complete clarity about where Im headed. I challenge you to do the same. Hope this helps!
