Its Gustave-Auguste Ferrié Birthday Born in Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne November 19, 1868 and died in Paris, France February 16, 1932, he was an engineer and army general, he contributed to the development of radio communication in France and was a pioneer in broadcasting. After attending the Polytechnic, he became engineer of radio transmissions to 1891. After being named in 1899 to the Franco-British committee to study the development of the wireless telegraph, he began his work with Guglielmo Marconi wireless telegraphy without trial between France and England. Gustave Ferrie led the transmitter antenna installation and the Eiffel Tower in 1903. The antenna atop the Eiffel Tower for long distance telegraphy, the same year in 1903 he perfected the wireless (TSF) by inventing a new electrolytic receiver. The range of the transmitter was first 400 km (250 miles) and is increased to almost 6,000 km (3,700 miles) in 1908. He also experimented with aircraft radio transmissions.
