Its time for ALL people to stand up against DV! I am so - TopicsExpress

Its time for ALL people to stand up against DV! I am so passionate about this subject because I lived it for 15 years with my first husband. I made excuses, lied for him, kept it all secret. I actually believed I was responsible, I made him mad, I wasnt good enough, I didnt work hard enough, etc...my blame is this: I didnt stand up for myself, didnt set boundaries and enforce them, didnt seek wise counsel.although I thought I did..I went to my pastor and strong leaders within my church who all counseled me to stay with my husband. I didnt leave soon enough, I believed that bastards lies about me and lost my confidence. Ok, the Ray Rice story...its classic. DV happens behind closed doors, women stay and defend..it takes an average of 7 or 8 times before a woman will leave and stay gone. The rehabilitation rate for abusers is very low..very low. Someone once told me a tiger cant change his stripes. It doesnt matter what the fight was about, what matters is his way of winning the fight...violence. His attitude toward Janay is obvious with the hit but reinforced with him treating her like a garbage heap while she was out. I pray she opens her eyes and leaves him and protects herself and her children. I will not judge her but she will feel the sting of her own judgement when she finally does leave and looks back over all the times she believed the lies, took the hits, allowed her children to be taught love hurts and abuses, girls are not important they are only objects to be owned and controlled by men. Men cannot abuse us more than once if we are strong enough to rise up and claim our place as strong women and accept no more abuse! We must speak up, stand up, and rise up to the challenge of being strong and teaching those younger than us. Ray Rice, youve been exposed, called out..what are you gonna do now? People of this planet, you have been exposed to the ugliness of DV..what are you gonna do? Look the other way? Judge the victim as wanting it, liking it, deserving it because she stays? Its up to you and I pray you all make the right choice...for yourself and for our children and future leaders of this world! Love does not hurt. Love is patient, love is kind, love is gentle....
