It’s been a very trying few days. First my Dad fell at home and broke his right arm on Saturday. Then when I was taking him to the ortho doc to decide if it would require surgery or just a cast, we were involved in a fender bender. We were right in front of the medical complex when it happened and the woman involved in the accident refused to allow me to take him on over to the doctor office. I told her she could follow me over there. She already had drivers’ license info, insurance info, etc. She wanted me to call 911 and if I moved the car, I would be leaving the scene of the crime. Now seriously, the scene of the crime! I tried to explain to her that in non-injury accidents such as ours, it was the normal to swap info and let the insurance companies take care of it. Again she refused me entrance to my Dad’s car. So in the meantime, my Dad who has multiple serious medical conditions, heart attacks, diabetes along with a broken arm in a sling decided he would try to walk to the medical office. There is no way he could have made it even without a broken arm. I started running after him and that’s when I saw him step off the sidewalk with one foot and with his poor balance abilities already, I knew what was going to happen next. He went careening toward a stone wall that was surrounded by flowers and down he went. Luckily the flowers sort of slowed down his falling motion and he did not hit the stone wall but still took a hard fall. Some security men saw his fall and came running to his rescue. One went to get a wheelchair for him and about this time the police woman showed up and she went running to Daddy’s aide. I was so thankful that she was more worried about his condition than the fender bender. After Daddy had fallen, I went running back to the woman in the car and said, do you have no compassion at all, do you see that 77 year old man laying on the ground with a broken arm already. She still insisted I could not move the car, I said watch me. She said she would report that I left the scene of the crime. OMGosh I wanted to scream. I did move the darn car down to where Daddy had fallen. I had already taken pictures of the damage to both cars and license plates etc. It was about that time that the police woman showed up. The security guys showed up with a wheelchair and got Daddy up in the chair and they were kind enough to wheel him to the building for his doctor appointment. I gave my report to the police woman as did the other driver. Thankfully she told the driver that I should have been allowed to take him to his doctor’s office and just redial 911 to give the change of location. And she explained to her that in the future, that it is neither typical nor necessary t call the police when it is a non-injury accident. Much thanks to the hot police woman who processed everything quickly so I could get to my Dad! Well got there and when they looked at the x-rays from Saturday they said it would just have to be cast. We told her about the fall he had just taken so they took a new x-ray and sadly he had broken the same arm again and now it would require surgery. So they splinted it and will see him in a couple of weeks to schedule the surgery. I have one sister and one brother that live here in the immediate area. So between the 3 of us, we are taking care of our parents and trying to keep things going to make things easier for them. Then on Monday, I had my annual mammogram. So much fun. For a few weeks I had been noticing that one of my armpits had been itching a lot and I figured it was from maybe shaving too closely. Unfortunately what I found was a lump in my armpit. So today I went to the doctor about that. My mammogram results are not ready yet, so for right now they are going to treat it like a cyst with antibiotics. If it’s a lymph node, they will have to do a biopsy and we’ll see from there. Deborah also had a doctor appointment this morning cause we had noticed a growth on her ear that was trying to grow/attach itself to the inside of her ear. Every time I put antibiotic cream on it and separate it, it would just bleed and reattach. So today the doctor said that he believes she has basal cell carcinoma and is sending her to a dermatologist for a biopsy and we’ll see from there. She also had to get injections for her migraine headache. I’ve been going to our parents’ house every day to help out. Haven’t been there yet today, but I need some time to decompress and will go in a bit. I spent five hours yesterday doing stuff and never quit. Plus yesterday was Sadie’s grooming day and I had carpet cleaners come in to clean the carpets and had to fix our meals and I just fell into the bed after it was all over. But had to move early this morning as we had doctor appointments at 8:00 am and got out of the office at 10:00 am and then on to the emergency room. I’m so tired I just want to sleep. Don’t see any chance of that happening.
