It’s my privilege to announce that my bill to honor fallen - TopicsExpress

It’s my privilege to announce that my bill to honor fallen Jackson City Police Officer James Bonneau by renaming a post office in Jackson the “Officer James Bonneau Memorial Post Office Building” passed through the Oversight & Government Reform Committee today. On March 9, 2010, Officer Bonneau was killed as he and a fellow public safety officer followed up on a domestic disturbance complaint. Though fatally wounded, he was able to call for help, saving the life of his fellow officer. In 2011 he was posthumously awarded the Congressional Badge of Bravery. Renaming this post office will ensure his sacrifice is long remembered in our community, and I am hopeful that this bill will be considered by the full House soon.
