It’s pretty much official now, the city has purchased the Smedley Manor at 305 North Main, and will sign the papers on the 14th of this month for the home of the Bountiful Museum. After many years of searching, designing, and walking through many buildings and homes, the Bountiful Museum people have a place to call home. At their monthly meeting last night, The Bountiful Historical Preservation Foundation, who will oversee the daily operation of the Smedley Manor, voted on their official name; “The Bountiful Museum & Learning Center”. The Smedley Manor was built by James Samuel Smedley for his new bride, Alice Chase, in 1892 and they moved into their new home on their wedding day, Valentine’s Day in 1894. Their 5 children were born and raised in this home. The museum people feel very blessed to finally have a place where they can tell the story of the early pioneers who helped back Bountiful what it is today. Please watch for more information on our move into this beautiful historical home located at 3rd North and Main…we couldnt have asked for a more fitting location for future generations to come and learn about Bountiful, (the second settlement in the state of Utah) and South Davis County.
