Ive argued with people on here over, what may to many, seem like - TopicsExpress

Ive argued with people on here over, what may to many, seem like trivial bullshit. Namely its been about race. Namely its been about, how its not hard for black people anymore (it is by the way); or how racism is in the past. Ive argued with people about the affects of colonialism and how the mother continent has been pillaged, thus remains to struggle over coming this. To the uninitiated, this is me over analysing the past. Making excuses for those in the present. How many times have I heard when can you drop it and move on?, not necessarily directly; far too many times is the answer. In all honesty, Ive got tired. Nothing ever comes of it and when you call out people for racial insensitivity, or even bigotry, it seen as an attack. So nobody learns. Shit perpetuates, whether that be stereotypes or misinformation. Sometimes we do the perpetuating. I used to do a lot of soap-boxing. I used to talk a whole load. Seeing shit for what it was, throwing a fortune in, not just my two pence. Looking back I feel stupid. Really I just wanted to see changes. Really Ive wanted to see a revolution; I was down to help birth it. The problem is you cant do it alone. Im no people person. So taking a observational role, Ive watched got annoyed. Watching helps you expand, understand more, notice naivity of yourself and maybe others. The big problem is it changes nothing. Change is key. But I digress. Race is important. Culture is important. Knowing the difference is important. Pride is foolish, yes but in the case of black pride I just think it was a misnomer. Race isnt just about the colour of your skin. Those that say it is are undermining what race is. Different people do things in different ways (culture). We should hold on to that and not force the world into a a blurred mess under the banner of multiculturalism (music case and point). But despite all these celebratory differences, we need equity ( I dont like the term equality as it undermines said differences). Even as I write this out though, I remember how tired I am. There is a need to remind people that the playing field is not level. Especially for black people specifically. Weve had it the toughest it would seem. No, its not a competition; no Im not trying to kick off a pity party. That is a fact as I and indeed many others see it. I saw some scientific research on the heriditory nature of trauma at some point recently (I think it was this year). Though the research was in early stages, imagine if that was the case. How much trauma does your average black person carry? Scary thought. Really shows the potential for a ridiculously biased playing field. Truth is irrespective of that, the history and the environment is enough. It is that bad, without the scientific proof. We live it. Yes live, currently, right now. To what do you owe this pleasure? Well America has had a situation exposed on the internet. Multitudes of black people, young, old male or female have been killed . Whether that be by law enforcement, or volunteer enforcement. Killed. These people are dead. The deaths have in all honesty been unlawful, especially when compared to actions with white counterparts. Black people in America are up in arms. We have had similar issues. Mark Duggan is a notable example. People are mad. Racism is real. For many of us thats not new. Still hurts. People want to do something. Want to make those changes I wanted to make. It requires action. It requires pulling together. America is doing that we have to some degree to. But the whole peaceful thing may not be working. I cant remember it ever working. Something tells me a little force may be needed. I get many are not comfortable with that. So knowing I cant work alone, I remain doing what I have to, to survive and stay sane. But let it be known Im here. Ill never be out of this. I just back seat during protest. Protest is an interesting word. By protesting you accept you are powerless (You see how democracy fails?). I cant be a part of that. Sadly, its not just the race issues that need fixing in this way. But people need to be on the same page. I cant be behind a revolution where capitalisms ills are remedied, but being black is still a struggle. If you want to make a change, do so. Dont be a keyboard warrior. Do so for the right reasons. In a positive way. Dont use it as excuse to spread your doctrine. Do what you can. Im not here to say whether youre doing enough or not. Im not doing much myself. Why have I done this? Not sure. Do I feel better for it? Well, nothing has changed, so no. Maybe Im just putting out the discussion. Maybe Im ready to talk about this in depth. Hopefully this will get read. Excuse the grammar issues. I tried my best.
