Ive been having trouble finding words to capture whats in my heart this week. I wont try. Ill just share these words from Leah Hunt-Hendrix. Merry Christmas to those that celebrate, and love to you all. Today represents the solidarity of God with humanity. Its the most beautiful idea in Christianity: that God, who is infinite, immeasurable, and all-powerful, would become mortal and submit himself to the suffering of finitude and death. For me, this is a reminder of the solidarity we are called to show for each other. Bound together in this humble life, we have the opportunity and duty to participate in each others struggles and experience both the burdens and sorrow, but also the grace and wonder, of our collective humanity. We are in this together. And as crises continue to mount, and communities - particularly communities of color - continue to be subject to economic exploitation and poverty, state violence and police brutality, white supremacy and the effects of climate change, Im grateful for everyone whos refusing to stay quiet. Im grateful to everyone whos been in the streets, fighting together for justice and equality. What else is there to do in this life, but strive to ensure that each life is held sacred and each person is loved? Onwards, in love and solidarity with you all.
