Ive been listening to a lot of 60s and 70s music lately. It has reaffirmed my view that traditional accoustic instrumentation will make a song endure. Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell is a perfect example. Judy Collinss version was a smash hit, but now sounds dated and, forgive me, a bit cheesy. But the simple strumming and minor chords on a D-tuned guitar of Joni Mitchells original seems like it could have been recorded yesterday, and not in 1969.
