Ive been looking into buying a new car lately, but the more I look the more I love my old Xterra. I realize that it and the wrangler are the last two proper SUV 4x4 vehicles that stand strong as the last bastion of off-roading vehicles that have not been converted into girly urban vehicles that get scared if so much as a pebble hits their nice little paint jobs. No the Xterra is not frightened of being off road. It has a 4x4 system that can tackle the mud and the deepest of snow, an interior thats not apposed to getting a little dirty and dinged up, a skid plate that can deflect bullets, tires big and knobby enough to tear up the nicest of highway medians, and a brush grill made from the same metal as Thors hammer. In this day and age the stick shift is something reserved for tiny sports cars, and people who want to show other drivers that their engine gets loud when you hit the gas pedal, but once again the Xterra is different. It doesnt beg you to annoy everyone in the tristate area. It gently assures you that its got a big enough engine that you can run it at a gentle pur while youre driving. Its final and most important feature is its uncomfortable cramped backseats. Its not like other roomy cars, that live in a communist utopia where everyone is equal with the same amount of legroom and cup holders. No it very boldly states, that Im doing the work of driving, and your a lazy bum whos mooching off my gas tank, so you get to sit in the crappy seat and I get the nice leaned back seat because I put in the work and gas money. Yes, I love my Xterra and we wont be separating anytime soon.
