Ive gone through more jobs than I care to admit, coming up through the dot boom and bust. I still sometimes feel it was a poor decision to go into an industry thats even more volatile and, often, I contemplate just leaving entirely. When I got laid off from Harmonix, I was in a really dark place because Id never wanted to stay somewhere so badly. And I lied when I got the notice: I lied that Id been through this enough times (as I was older than most people there) that it wasnt too bad. No matter how many times you get laid off or a contract ends prematurely (much less getting fired), it crushes you and makes you feel a little bit more worthless. If youre strong, you bounce back and realize that self-pity doesnt help anyone but its never easy. Never easy.
