Ive seen too many posts to count today about the channel 8 interview with the family of Perry Renns murderer. While I do agree it was in bad taste to give this family a platform to spew their hatred of the police and air a ridiculous statement in which Perry was blamed for his own death, this story has been spread on a national level and received overwhelmingly positive comments about the police and messages of support for Officer Renns family, while spreading news of Perrys sacrifice to people who otherwise might not have heard about him. Sadly, there are way too many people in the world who share the mentality of this family that refuses to place the blame where it should lie. If theres any silver lining to this news piece, its that countless other people are being exposed to seeing this warped sense of reality that police encounter every day. Hopefully what started out as a story aired out of poor judgement will cause some people to have a renewed support for the police who are doing an often impossible job.
