I’m reminded tonight (as I stay up late knowing Jose and I will have to taxi in the early morning to JFK, leaving our apartment around 5 AM) of another night long ago (early 1960s, I believe) when my siblings and I and our cousins stayed up all night on 111 Shepps Lane waiting to take our cousins (Tim and Sue) and aunt and uncle to the New York Central train station (Syracuse, NY) to see them off on an early morning train (before dawn) to their home in California. Tim, but two months younger than me, carried his jar of water that was holding the pollywogs he took from the swamp. My aunt wrote he dropped the jar on the tracks in Chicago, was it? He lost them, of course. Tomorrow, we fly to Phoenix where Tim’s funeral will take place on Friday. He was 61 years old.
