JANUARY PRAYER GUIDE JANUARY 18 – Read John 3:16-21. Jesus ‘didn’t come into the world to judge the world’ that is true enough. However His coming does result in judgment. He is the true Light. He is the truth. Light and truth always come as double edged swords. They either attract and are received; or they repel and are rejected. Both the receiving and the rejecting are validated in actions. (vss 19-21). This is not saying that those who believe are without fault, never sin, etc. Nor is it saying that based on actions those who reject Jesus don’t ever do anything good or nice. What it is saying where there is true belief over time there is a verifiable trajectory noted by movement ever deeper into a life lived in light and truth. Where that is not the case – over time there is a pattern and movement toward hiding, pretending and darkness. So today – look over your shoulder from the time ‘you first believed’ – if those days are marked by increasing love and reflection of light and truth – thank God for that and let it be a confirmation of your birth into His kingdom and family! If there is ambiguity – perhaps you are where Nicodemus is in this story aware but yet on the outside looking in – and you need to ask Jesus for that new birth. Or perhaps you have received that new birth but have lacked in what Peter says ‘the making of every effort’ to lay hold of, grow and mature in the new life we have been given and received provision for in Jesus Christ. Pray also today that Four Mile would be used mightily by God as a tool bringing both new Spirit birth and genuine transformation into light and truth.
