Praise God and pray for others in light to the Scripture you covered. 4. Reflect on the passages meaning and possibly journal a few ideas that God might be sharing with you. Todays Reflection: Wow, in todays reading we see two brothers reunited and forgiveness given in stark contrast to revenge and unforgiveness as two of Jacobs children exact vengeance on Shechem. We always have the choice to either forgive or exact revenge. One choice, however, has been made void by God, Himself. God has said that He is the one that will enact vengeance. It is not to be us doing it ourselves. Yet, how difficult is forgiveness, especially when one has been hurt? As we reflect on all the painful times in our lives in which people have played a part, let us reflect on how offensive we have been to God and yet, He has forgiven us. Someone in our past hurt our oldest son very badly and after his pain had subsided, our rage was still aroused. When asked why he had suddenly started being so kind to this person, he replied, God has forgiven me so much, how could I not extend the same to them. Lesson well learned. Let us forgive and forget the past. Let us be like Esau was and extend the hand of mercy and grace to those who dont deserve it in our lives. Amazingly enough, it was the one NOT of the promise who acted with integrity here, while the ones of the promise acted so sinfully. Let us not be like Jacobs sons. Let us pursue our higher calling with passion and put an end to looking like Jacobs sinful sons. Let us live forgiveness. Amen and Amen!!
