January 16th, 2005 was and still is the worst day of my life to date. It started very early in the morning with a phone call nobody ever wants to get and ended with a flight home that almost didnt make it. Its hard to put into words just how much I miss my dad and just how hard it is even today to be without him. Having said that I cant help but smile when I think about one particular aspect of that day that can only be summed up as divine intervention. As Danny Mac and I were sitting at the airport waiting for our plane to depart, Danny tried to lighten the mood a bit by telling me how pissed Max would be that the Patriots were home underdogs to the Colts in the playoffs. Now from time to time my dad and I would place a wager or two on the Pats. Danny and I knew what had to be done and we made sure to bet enough to cover Maxs action as well. Although I didnt see any of the game we were made well aware of the score when we finally touched down and were on our way to Cohasset. 20 -3 Patriots and the first step on their way to beating the Eagles in the Super Bowl. I knew my dad was laughing his ass off that night as he no doubt gave Peyton Manning his patented double bird as he left the field in defeat. For those of you who can, please tell your parents how much you love them. For those of you who have them, tell your kids and brothers and sisters how much you love them too. And for those of you who like to place a bet now and again, take the Pats and lay the points, because I know my dad would have already locked it in !!!! Love you dad. GO PATS !!!
