January 1st, in Legion History: 2976 - The Legionnaires, including Pete Ross and Jimmy Olsen, participate in a bizarre contest devised by Proty II, commemorating Superboys history, to determine the new Legion leader. Saturn Girl wins the contest and is reelected. 2988 - Glorith wipes out the entire population of the planet Daxam. Laurel Gand, Valor, and Dev-Em are among the few surviving Daxamites. A small group of Legionnaires begins planning a retaliatory attack against Glorith. 2989 - Quislet is forced to return permanently to Teall when the Emerald Empress destroys his ship, effectively eliminating him from Legion membership.. The Emerald Empress asks Sensor Girl to hide her existence from the Emerald Eye. When she does so, the Empress dies of apparent old age.
