January 20, 2014 – Thoughts about Bullying and Poem Whether you are a victim of bullying or the bully himself, either one, facing who we are does not always make going to school something we look forward to. As victims, we tend to feel shame and lose sight of the renewable strengths we have to get ourselves back on track and believe we still have what is necessary to succeed. As a bully, we now have a role to play that we accidently took on because we acted out, and now others around us wait for our next scene. It is almost expected of us to be dramatic. What to do, what to do? Well, let’s re-route everyone’s thinking and instead of putting titles of “Victim” or “Bully” with our names, why don’t we just say we are “students.” And, as “students,” let’s focus on the main reason we come to school…to learn! With this being said, how can a student succeed in school? Maybe some of the readers, have already graduated from school and can comment on what they did to get through the years of schooling even when you did not want to be there? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst How to Succeed in School Do you know what is expected and what you must remember to do? Beginning from the very first day that each year you come to school? Well in real life, there are always a few rules we must follow to help each day go a little more smoothly And if you are quick to learn and remember your part you will benefit... usually. Get a good night’s sleep This is something we all need. Have a good breakfast to start each day It will help you to have a better today. Make it your goal to enter the classroom with a smile And of course always be ready to sit still for a little while. Then there are morals that make being in school a little easier They will help you, your classmates and make it pleasant for your teacher. Always try to be kind No pushing or shoving when in line. Practice saying please and thank you Remember others have feelings too. Be respectful and say only nice words Learn how to express your needs politely and you are sure to be heard. Remember to be forgiving when others fall short But never hold back when you see something happening that you should report. Try to do all your work and keep focused on what you are asked to do Learning can be fun but being motivated is all up to you. Share with others your dreams and your future plans How things will turn out for you will on you depend as you are in command. And never forget what your teachers expect And always remember they want for you what is best. To learn and be healthy in spirit and mind We open our school doors if learning you are so inclined.
