Jeff offered to support me while I went to the college to complete some paperwork related to unemployment and college funding. While talking to the lady at the college she was asking about the primary position I held so we could get the proper SOC code associated to what I did. Trying to explain what my skills are for and what I did was a challenge. Unless someone has been in the industry, it is not an easy task to explain in layman terms where they can easily understand. She asked about my last position and the negative view about my role and feeling of failure came flying out of my mouth before I could stop it. Jeff sat straight up in his chair and loudly exclaimed, "NO you did NOT fail! You were misled in understanding what the position was." I sat there quietly for a few moments while he explained what role I am accustomed to, what has transpired over the last year with previous employment. Pondering over what he said, what he was saying, I realized that he has been paying attention to my efforts in school, how they are trying to point out our strengths and how we can let those shine through. I realized that my best friend, my partner was correcting me and keeping me on point with my current class at school. It is then that I realized that although this class was intended for me to polish my resume and job search skills; we are growing together because of this class. He is the most awesome partner a woman could have. Thank you my Love for your support.
