Jesus warned us about a “ditch” that awaits the shuffling - TopicsExpress

Jesus warned us about a “ditch” that awaits the shuffling lines of the blind tapping their white canes. Spiritually speaking, this ditch is extremely dangerous. It is a bottomless pit, and its slippery walls are continually licked by tormenting flames. This hole called hell reverberates with the terrorized screams and cries of the damned. The continual grating, gnashing, and grinding of teeth is literally a relief from the day-in-day-out torment of the damned in this place God prepared for the devil and his angels. This ditch, this bottomless pit of pain, is never satisfied. Like a raging jungle beast, this vast chasm seems to say, “There is always room for more, “ and it is constantly waiting for more prey to consume. Some people have asked me, “Pastor Dave, how can you preach like this? Don’t you love us?” My response is, as a loving father, at various times I have had to tell my children, “I don’t ever want you to cross the street again without looking both ways. Do you understand me?” Your life could depend on it! Now, bend over!” Why do we correct our children so sternly sometimes? Because we love them, and we don’t want to lose our children in a tragic accident that could have been avoided by proper correction and warning! This is why God commands me to warn you of certain damnation. That is why God sends a conviction through the Holy Spirit. I’m warning you to take a good look at your walk with God and to “Watch Out For the Ditch!” It breaks my heart to say that even though many people come forward to receive Christ and repent of their sins, there are usually twice as many who harden their hearts and claw their way out to escape God’s call. Even as they drag themselves out of the service, they are saying, I have to get outside where I can get a breath of fresh air. I need to get away from whatever it is that is all over me! If this is happening to you right now I want you to know that it is called the “conviction of the Holy Spirit.” God loves you, and His conviction on your heart is a sign of His love. He is like a doctor who has to “make you feel bad” before you feel good. He often “pokes and prods” you to find out “where it hurts.” Once the problem is found, He deals with it. Sometimes He doesn’t use any anesthetic at all and it hurts. I have seen people scream during revival services and then they often run down to the altar and wail like children who have just been disciplined. And the next thing you know. These same people are loving on Jesus and praising God—free and unhindered. Some people get really bothered by preachers talking like this. If this refers to you then all I can say is—GOOD! My job as an ordained minister is to make everyone wake up. This preacher preaches to the lost, but I also stir up the church and everyone who comes into this service. Everyone is following somebody—but how many people here today are totally blind? You might be thinking right now, “You’re wrong pastor Dave, I’m not following anybody.” Even atheist’s are religious and are following somebody…Yes, even Darwin! You might say you don’t believe in God or I’m not a Baptist, or Methodist, or Catholic or even Pentecostal! I just don’t believe in all that Spirit worship. So you tell yourself that you live your life the best you can, and when it’s over, it’s over. If any of these describe you….according to scholars, you are an “annihilationist.” The academics have already categorized you. Whether you like it or not, you’re part of a religious group. I know you thought you were a unique individualist out to prove you are nothing more than a highly evolved animal, but you are just another member of a religious group. Millions of Americans—and Christian Americans—believe that everyone should have the right to choose the way to God that they are most comfortable following. There is only one problem with this popular notion: Jesus did not give us that right! If you claim to be a Christian, but you believe and promote this idea, do you realize that you are anti-Bible? Jesus told His disciples at the Last Supper, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me!” Regardless of what many would like to believe—there is only one way to the Father, and that is through Jesus.
