Jesus was a man of many signs and miracles, however when the miracles were demanded of Him for a sign and testament to who He was, He refused to perform them. In our Christian walks I feel that we can also begin to do what the Pharisees did here in demanding a sign. We say things like God, if You get me out of this situation I will do whatever it is that You want me to do and it in essence becomes a test that we place on God to prove that He loves us or worse yet, that He exists. Jesus did not come to prove who He was to anyone. He came to pay the price for our sin when He died on the cross and give us victory over the enemy in His being raised from the dead! It is not until we begin to look at this through His perspective thy we can truly see the beauty of this divine scandal and conspiracy to save us from eternity in hell. It is imperative that we look to Him now for who He is and what He did rather than on what it is that He can do for us in the here and now. Do we have His blessings? Yes. But, we should not allow those blessings to trump the Blesser. The Pharisees came and began to argue with him, seeking from him a sign from heaven to test him. And he sighed deeply in his spirit and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Truly, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.” (Mark 8:11, 12 ESV)
