Job Opening For Pricing Manager #jobs #hiring #employment #pricing #management by tgmarshall PURPOSE: This position is responsible for establishing pricing standards, managing the pricing process and tracking pricing performance. The incumbent will also build overall organizational capabilities and communicate key pricing insights and recommendations to senior Leadership and other relevant positions and/or personnel. The Pricing Manager will drive short and long term pricing strategies for the Plumbing Division by providing recommendations on pricing innovations to enhance company profit goals. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Pricing Strategy Development •Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Logistics and Finance to develop pricing strategies by business, channel, brand, product category, and shipping quantities. •Determine methodology to gather necessary information to support pricing objectives and perform in-depth evaluation and interpretation of price structure and strategies. •Determine product / customer profitability and the optimization of pricing strategies and volume growth in conjunction with Product Managers Sales Process - Analyses and Decision Support •Analysis of competitive pricing gained through competitive price reports to develop competitive pricing matrices, both to understand competitor’s pricing strategies and to verify competitive prices reported. •Provide input to financial analysis in support of new product commercialization teams and other business development opportunities. •Develop metrics to monitor pricing initiatives and price changes to ensure that business objectives are achieved. •Systematically monitors newly introduced pricing strategy and tactics by competitors •Identify products and customers that are over or under-priced and develop recommendations to optimize price premiums or discounting. •Evaluate the discounting structure based on volume discounts, relative size of customer, and share of the business within a customer. •Development of decision-making tools for pricing actions and audit analysis of decisions to ensure sound pricing decision management. •Interface with sales managers during proposal pricing justifications and provide support in negotiating customer price levels •Participate as needed in the development of annual sales budget and periodic sales forecast for the various business product lines Department Management •Develop and foster an environment where performance excellence is achieved through leadership. The areas managed include Pricing and Price Data Management and Adjustments (deduction investigation/resolution, credits/debits). •Train, develop, coach, motivate and recognize individual employees and teams. •Identify and implement project/process improvements using Six Sigma tools. •Design, balance and monitor work schedules and workloads. •Effectively recruit, select, and deploy talented resources as needed. •Evaluate staffing needs and propose/recommend changes as needed. Sales Services Management •Develop relationships with customers and field sales to identify opportunities for improved services and support the pricing management team. •Manage Adjustments to resolve deductions customers have taken on invoices. Facilitate process review and improvement to significantly reduce and eventually eliminate deductions customers take when payment is received by Accounts Receivable. Participate in short pay reduction teams. •Proactive prevention: Establish relationships with customers to understand any issues or processes that limit 100% invoice payment. Will use the relationships established to enable up-front communication before a deduction is taken. Will also use customer knowledge to address limitations identified that could result in a deduction. •Will develop, implement, and supervise: Communication Tools and Processes to ensure effective information flow and responsiveness to customers and field sales. •Manage Territory/Region Reporting to sales when requested. Includes Credit request support for pricing promotions, Price Change Request and Large Job Quotes •Lead cross-functional team to develop communication processes to customers and field sales and this department. Pricing & Data Management •Pricing Management & Analysis •Leads Pricing and Data Control team to ensure accuracy and data integrity of all pricing information in the computer system. This includes data collection, synchronization, analysis, and legal compliance and control. •Develops pricing policies, procedures, and processes through cross-functional collaboration with marketing, sales, credit, and IT to ensure reliability of data used to quote pricing, bill customers, and receive payments in full. •Customer Master File -Identify and develop policies, procedures, and processes that ensure the computer system’s customer master file is accurate and updated for new and existing customers regarding stock pricing and off invoice deductions QUALIFICATIONS: PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING: The incumbent must possess strong analytic skills and will need to review financial and operational data and make appropriate recommendations to the respective Product and Regional Managers. The incumbent must be an independent thinker since financial conclusions will frequently need to be reached without significant direction from others. Each assignment can be different and requires someone, who has an excellent grasp of financial and pricing concepts, and also a very strong knowledge of the business and industry. This person will also need to continually evaluate the informational needs of customers and then develop and refine the tools to enable more effective and data-driven decisions. Incumbent must have the ability to work well with all database sources and potential sources of information and must have a thorough understanding of statistical analyses used to analyze pricing. This position requires demonstrated strengths in the following problem-solving areas: •Strong investigative skills (problem identification, cause-effect and impact analysis) •Ability to translate quantitative and qualitative data into useful information and draw conclusions from it. Areas include root cause analysis of pricing, adjustments, and centralized data base errors. Evaluates tools (computers/software) to determine effectiveness. •Ability to present complex ideas simply and clearly to all organizational levels •Solid understanding of the impact of each decision has throughout the organization •Strong facilitation skills utilized to build consensus across diverse functions/locations •Excellent conflict resolution skills •Performance measure development and performance management. •Hiring and selection decisions when needed. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: This position requires an advanced degree, MBA preferred, or equivalent, complementary work experience. - Minimum 10 to 12 years experience in pricing strategy and/or financial analysis. - Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process change and improvement. Min. 4 years management experience including managing customer or sales services desired Manufacturing or Distribution environment experience strongly preferred. - Demonstrated knowledge of sophisticated pricing analyses and techniques. - A solid understanding of Marketing Management, including strategic marketing, market analyses, sales support and new product launches. - Excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience working with the field sales to establish competitive pricing strategies. - Excellent time management and organizational skills are a must for this position in order to successfully manage multiple, simultaneous priorities and projects.
