Jobs, development can’t change historical realities of Kashmir: Shabir Shah Srinagar, Dec 9 (KNS): Terming the complete strike observed by Kashmiris on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Valley as “eye-opener” for New Delhi, the incarcerated leader of Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir (HCJK) Tuesday said that by organizing such rallies and giving tempting speeches therein, the historical realities cannot be changed. “New Delhi has to accept it that they cannot befool and subjugate Kashmiris by misleading statements and by military might respectively,” Shah said in an emailed statement to KNS, adding that the people of Kashmir didn’t offer sacrifices for development and jobs but they want their right to decide their political future as India has promised and for which UN resolutions are witness. He said, “We are not against the progress and prosperity of our nation “only if we are free”. “India has subjugated us. What is the fun in getting jobs and development India has made us slaves and has usurped our basic rights,” he said. Commenting on Modi’s statement on Chattergam killings, Shah said, “By acting against the culprits, Modi hasn’t done any favour to Kashmiris. He (Modi) should order independent and impartial probe into all the killings that took place here for the last 67 years. He should allow the return of mortal remains of Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru.” Shah reiterated that if resistance leaders are allowed to do their activities, they will prove that in the presence of more than seven lakh forces, these elections are drama and majority of people will distance themselves from the process. “All the pro-election parties are same and there is no difference between them.” Shah said it is only due to the stubborn attitude of India that has stalled the Kashmir issue and is the prime reason for uncertain political condition of the State and unending human rights violations here. “The peace, prosperity and progress is impossible without resolving this issue,” Shah added.
