Jose Mourinho claims Cristiano Ronaldo ‘thinks he knows everything’ amid reports that the duo’s relationship broke down at Real Madrid. The Portuguese departed the Spanish capital after three years in charge of Real and has returned to manage former club Chelsea in the Premier League. Ronaldo joined the club in 2009 for a fee reported to be in the region of 80 million pounds and has scored over 200 goals in all competitions in four seasons. Mourinho insists he tried to help further develop Ronaldo’s game, but feels that the former Manchester United attacker is not capable of accepting criticism. “I had only one problem with him, very simple, very basic, which was when a coach criticises a player from a tactical viewpoint trying to improve what in my view could have been improved,” he told Spanish television show Punto Pelota. “And at that moment he didn’t take it very well because maybe he thinks he knows everything and the coach cannot help him to develop more. “Cristiano has had three fantastic seasons with me, I don’t know if they were the best of his career because he had some fantastic moments with Manchester United. “I think we created a fantastic situation for him tactically in which he could express all his potential and turn that into records and goals.” Mourinho also answered questions on whether he felt ‘betrayed’ as Paulo Futre suggested last month by defender Pepe, after the Portugal international had criticised his manager’s team selections at Real. “It is a question for him not me,” he added. “The only thing I can say is that he had one foot out of the club and I brought him back and I fought for him to be paid as a fantastic player like him should be paid. “But he got injured and a kid 13 years younger (Raphael Varane) than him came in and I felt this other player deserved to stay in the team and he (Pepe) did not take it very well. “And then suddenly all the people that had done nothing but criticize him before were on his side (against me).” -Leo10
