Joshua 22:1-6: The Reubenites, Gadites, and half tribe of Manasseh did as they had promised Moses (Numbers 32; Deuteronomy 3:12-20) and later Joshua (Joshua 1:12-18): they remained in the army until all the land had been conquered. Joshua 22:10-12: When the descendants of Reuben, Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh built an impressive altar on their side of the Jordan, the rest of Israel assumed they were setting up their own religion.
