Jubilee MPs allegedly instigated the disruption of the special Parliamentary sitting on the controversial Security Bill on Thursday by attacking five Cord leaders in the Speakers Gallery. Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri and Muthomi Njuki of Chuka- Igambangmbe are reportedly among others who attacked Cord senators Boni Kalwale, Moses Wetangula, James Orengo, Johnstone Muthama and Judith Sijenyi. Other Jubilee MPs said to have initiated the scuffle are Moses ole Sakuda (Kajiado), Joseph Kiuna (Njoro), Alice Nganga (Thika Town) and David Gikaria (Nakuru East). Machakos Senator Muthama was roughed up and his shirt and trousers torn and Bungomas Wetangula was punched while being ejected from the chambers. Trouble started when the special sitting resumed after an earlier adjournment to continue the vote on the contentious Bill that has been described as an infringement on the Constitutions Bill of Rights. The opposition rendered voting impossible as they chanted and shouted, egged on by the Cord senators whom Speaker Justin Muturi had earlier ordered to be removed from the gallery. The Jubilee MPs, agitated by the chants from the Cord senators, reportedly descended on them with blows and kicks while ejecting them from the chambers. Suba MP John Mbadi, Dagorettis Simba Arati and Homa Bays Gladys Wanga reportedly led others on a rescue mission for their counterparts. The House has been divided on the Bill that seeks to ensure internal security by allowing the surveillance of phones and other communications, and fining the media and individuals who post terror-related content without clearance, among other measures. #TheStar.
