Judge/Judging/Judgment: Entry 11 1 Chronicles 1:10,11 (Life Application Bible) Now give me knowledge and wisdom to rule them properly, for who is able to govern by himself, such a great nation as this one of yours? God replied, Because your greatest desire is to help your people, and you havent asked for personal wealth and honor, and you havent asked me to curse your enemies, and you havent asked for a long life, but for wisdom and knowledge to properly guide my people. WHAT THE SCRIPTURE IS SAYING Wisdom is the ability to make good decisions based on proper discernment and judgment. Knowledge, in this verse refers to the practical know hows necessary for handling everyday matters. Solomon used his wisdom and knowledge not only to build the Temple from his fathers plans, but to establish the nations economic growth. Gods offer to Solomon stretched the imagination: Ask me for anything and i will give it to you. But Solomon put the needs of his people first and asked for wisdom rather than riches. He realize wisdom would be the most valuable asset he could have as a king. Later he wrote: Wisdom is far more valuable than precious jewels. Nothing else compares to it. The same wisdom that was given to Solomon is available to you because the same God gives it. How can you acquire wisdom? First we must ask God, who is always ready to give a bountiful supply of wisdom. Second, we must devote ourselves to studying and applying Gods Word, the source of divine wisdom. Solomon could of had anything, but he asked for wisdom to rule the nation. God approved of the way that Solomon Ordered his priorities, and he gave him riches, wealth and honor. Jesus also spoke about priorities. He said that when we put God first, Everything we really need will fall into place. This does not guarantee that we will be wealthy and famous like Solomon, but it means that when we wisely put God first, the wisdom he gives us will enable us to live richly rewarding lives. MY THOUGHTS Lets start with the observation of Wisdom in our everyday discernment and judgments. Are we actively seeking wisdom? if so, what kind of wisdom are we seeking? and what is our motive or Priority of obtaining this wisdom? do we want it for ourselves only or do we need it to help others to understand themselves? To actively Seek wisdom, is to actively seek God, to have an open compassionate conversation with him everyday, to obtain such wisdom. Also, how we perceive this wisdom is also key here to, because sometimes some of the most profound wisdom takes us beyond our understanding, and into Gods realm of thought. This takes you back to the saying, :Not by my will, but by yours, says the Lord. Well the same applies not Just by your understanding but by his understanding. God can transform our thought, imagination and even down to how we feel, with just a simple understanding conversation. Gods offer to Solomon asking for anything and how Solomon chose an eternal gift. You see there are two important factors here: Solomon chose something eternal, that last forever, and he looked beyond himself, to his people; it became a selfless act of courage, because he thought far more than riches. Yes, wealth could of maybe given him temporary satisfaction, but he looked deeper to the future and stuck with an eternal thought and perspective. When God Gives or we ask for anything are our request pure? are we asking for ourselves or others? are we seeking instant gratification or eternal growth? Can what you seek only last you for the short-term or do you desire to stretch the imagination for the long-term. Devotion and priority is the number one key when obtaining the eternal gifts from God. Setting your eyes on God first, seeking his first thought, opinion, or even a decision, is important to him. Its say, Yes Lord, I place these things at your feet, for nothing will ever be possible if it were not for your mercy and grace, that bare fruit of love to our lives. THE CHALLENGE I challenge you to consider your spiritual direction, and ask yourself, if this was the day the Lord comes to take me home, what are the things i want to take with me, the things i can share with Jesus and my people. Knowing that mainly only eternal last forever, what are at-least one thing you would want to learn here on earth, to be able to share and help others in.
