Judith Marie Reece Whitenton Judith Marie Reece was born September 17, 1943, in Halstead, KS to John and Marjorie Reece, and her sister, Marjie. She lived in Burton, KS until the age of 3, when her family moved to Straight, Oklahoma near Guymon. She attended a country grade school and looked back on those years fondly, feeling blessed with great opportunities and wonderful teachers. Her beautiful singing voice was discovered there in Straight, and her teachers and family encouraged her to perform in many competitions and musicals throughout high school and university. She was a great performer and brought down the house with lead roles in “South Pacific” and “The Fantasticks,” among many others. She graduated from Guymon High School in 1981 and went on to Oklahoma State University from which she graduated in 1965. Judy moved to Dallas after graduating from OSU, and loved working as an accountant and account manager in the Adolphus Building downtown. Life got even better when she bought an Austin-Healey Sprite and drove around Dallas with the top down! Judy lived in several cities, but loved living in Huntsville, Alabama, best of all. It was in Huntsville that she came to know the Lord, and there she also deeply enjoyed participating in the Christian music scene. She returned to Dallas in 1977, where she began working for Texas Instruments as an accountant. It was there that she met the love of her life, David, and they married May 30, 1981. Judy and David welcomed the joy of their lives, Michael Ray Whitenton, on March 17, 1983. Judy loved being a mother more than anything else in her life. Though she spent much of Michael’s early years at home, Judy eventually returned to work in Richardson Independent School District, serving vital roles in numerous administrative capacities, including a stint as the president of RESSA. After a long and illustrious carrier at RISD, Judy retired February 1, 2013. Sadly, on June 12, 2013, Judy was diagnosed with advanced-stage lung cancer, which brought her life to an abrupt but peaceful end only 30 days later at 9:00PM on Friday, July 12, 2013. Judy is survived by her son, Michael Whitenton and his wife, Rachel; her sister, Marjie and brother-in-law, Carl, along with numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends, all of whom loved her dearly. Judy is preceded in death by her parents, John & Marjorie Reece and her husband, David, who greeted her with open arms on Friday evening.
