Julio continues to track north over open ocean... Recon hurricane aircraft tracker latest observations and the latest cone track shows it staying clear of land... with winds from the center (expanding 150 miles out resulting in tropical force winds - so with it being more than 250 miles north of us ... Winds should not be a factor on the islands but if you are out on the sea it could be over open ocean.... as well as a surge of swell energy -bigger surf, rip currents and rough seas --> outer waters). Ill continue to monitor it :) Cloud cover and showers are diminishing over Kauai county and Oahu, with conditions gradually improving today as a dry airmass seen in the Water Vapor image takes over. It is still impressive on satellite. The returning trades will be interrupted again as winds shift to a light northerly flow due to Julio moving far northeast and north of the islands today and through Monday. The lighter winds will allow for afternoon clouds and possible sea breezes that could mean pop up interior showers during the afternoon. SURF: Large swells generated by hurricane Julio will produce elevated surf along most north and east facing shores of the main Hawaiian islands through Monday.
