June 19, 2013 DO WE HAVE TO? Our bad attitudes keep us from enjoying life. When our attitudes are not right, we won’t enjoy what we are doing. When we feel as if we have to do something rather than we get to do something, we feel what we are doing is more of a chore than an opportunity and may be tempted to do wrong. God doesn’t want us to feel as if we have to do something out of obligation. He wants us to be excited that we were chosen to get something to do for His purpose. When we stay in the “have to” mode in life, we won’t be happy and we will be more tempted to do things that are not part of God’s plan for us. Ephesians 4:23 “Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.” (NLT) Dear Lord, help us not be children who say “do we have to?” Help us to be Your children who are excited about the life You have given us and look at every opportunity to do good for You and to help others. We know that life will not always be easy and the challenges may seem hard and overwhelming. But we also know that You will not give us anything we can’t handle and we should move ahead enjoying what we get to do in life so we can enjoy what opportunities You have planned for us.
