June 27, 2014 Overnight Buster showed signs of improvement after surgery. His heart rate was staying within the normal range so they didnt need to give him a Verapamil injection. His breathing is taking a little longer to go back to normal but his jowls are nice and pink so hes oxygenated. He unfortunately developed a little upper respiratory infection since surgery which isnt helping his breathing but hes being given an antibiotic so fingers crossed for solid improvement by morning. I got to visit Buster earlier totoniight...he surgeon is rating him at just about half way so I am trying to stay positive. He hasnt yet shown any interest in food but Im hoping its just an after effect of all the meds and pain. In speaking with the surgeon Ive learned that Buster has some adhesions on his stomach which could mean that his stomach was slowly sort of developing this GVD over the last however long. Luckily it didnt cause any ruptures or damage while it slowly migrated around. I am confident that the surgeon has done an amazing job in securing his stomach so it does not happen again. I also learned just how critical Buster was on the table. I will never be able to say the kind of thanks to the cardiologist for basically saving his life. Sat in the waiting room now to bring Buster his peanut butter and try to get him eat some chicken, Ive witnessed 2 families who had to say good bye to their furbabies. To them I say I am sorry. I truly feel your heartbreak. I will be giving my sweet Meester extra kisses tonight. xxx
