Just as our Advocate does not slumber nor sleep, neither does our adversary….he is on the prowl like a thief in the night, his energy is never lacking, his eye is always on his goal, whether you choose to believe it or not, the evil one is ready and waiting to pounce at the very moment you let down your guard. Do not be fooled he has been at this for centuries, his scheme is the same, his strategy unchanging, and surprise attacks are his specialty. That is why our Loving Saviour reminds us to be alert, to watch, to resist, to keep our lives free of the “stuff” that keeps us from a meaningful close relationship with Him. Pray without ceasing, stay in the Word, surround yourself with believers. Why….because you never know when the enemy will attack, the lazy days of summer, the cool days of autumn, the brisk cold winter days, and those beautiful days of spring, he is primed, ready, and waiting for you. Be alert……1 Peter 5:6-9 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you. Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary,, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in your faith….”
