Just before Christmas I was reposing humorous (Ok, esoteric) Russian animations about the damage Brent Crude at $64 a barrel was doing to their economy. A month and a serious chest infection later its at $46 a barrel, which is to say it would be cheaper for me to use Rubles as handkerchiefs than Kleenex. Mostly this matters because its undermining Russian Imperialism and the finances of the Islamic State (or Daesch to give them the name they hate and I really should use more). For what its worth this also means an independent Scotland would be living off deep fried rats caught in the Glasgow sewer system accompanied by turnips the armies of unemployed father on the way to the English border. Moral of the story? Dont put all you economic eggs in one oil drum..... Seriously, the decline of oil is the biggest economic story since the credit crunch.....
