Just finished Anita Diamants latest book, The Boston Girl, written from the perspective of an 85-year-old first-generation Jewish-American woman recounting her life growing up with traditional, Yiddish-speaking parents in the North End of Boston, making friends with Italian, Irish, and Jewish girls from the North End, working in a variety of positions as she grows older, and becoming more independent and modern as the years go by. Its interesting as a family history memoir and touches on many Boston-area landmarks that make a Boston girl like me wistful. Its a quick, enjoyable read, very touching in parts, and I recommend it. My first book of 2015.
