Just got into a heated telephone argument with the IEP coordinator at the school district. My sons school has been great but these DOE folks... My head is pounding right now because really it should not have to be this way. The gross disregard and disrespect that they show to parents is unacceptable. I know my rights as a parent and I damn well know what IDEA states about parental involvement in the IEP development process. I am about to request an IEP meeting to resolve this in person. All I want is for my concerns regarding Angels elopement behavior to be included on his IEP. You would think I was asking for ABA 50 hours a week. These are the moments when I have to take a breath an approach this as an advocate and not as a parent. smh...
