Just had a conversation with a parent whose son uses a Tobii i12. He has been at school today where the i12 has been used without a problem. At dinner tonight all his i12 will do is turn on, display the Tobii post screen logo for three seconds, beep and then restart repeating the same process over and over. This does not appear to be a known issue on the Tobii website so after some over the phone diagnosis we could not get the device to boot into Windows and so the parent will be contacting the reseller in the morning in the hope that they will be more familiar with the issue that I am and be able to fix it over the phone or send it off for repair. The main worry for the parent tonight is the prospect of losing the hours of work that she has put into creating her own bespoke communication pages that she has not backed up to an external storage device. :-( Even if you have no external storage device, find out how to backup your grids or page sets and look into using DropBox or Google Drive for saving your Grid Bundles or exported page sets to. Devices can be replaced or repaired, but the work put into editing and creating pages cant easily be if your data is not safely backed up. As things stand tonight, even if the device is sent away and a loan unit provided, the gridsets on the loan device will not be the ones that the child uses every day. Make the time to backup, and even backup the backup!
